The P.S. Co. maker’s mark stands for the Plainville Stock Company, an influential American jewelry manufacturer founded in 1884 in Plainville, Massachusetts. Emerging during the height of the New England jewelry manufacturing boom, the company quickly established a reputation for producing high-quality Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco pieces—most notably expanding into fine 10K/14K gold, sterling silver, rolled gold plate, and gold-filled items stamped with "1/20 GF" quality marks. Their production spanned a vast range of functional and sentimental adornments, including filigree rings, locket pendants, stickpins, watch brooches, and shell cameos. Plainville Stock Company remained a fixture of American jewelry manufacturing throughout the 20th century, adapting to changing design eras while maintaining its signature stamp (P.S. Co. or P.S.CO.) on fine hardware, bails, and clasps.
