Vintage Van Dell Carved Carnelian Shell Cameo Brooch Pendant - 12K Gold Filled - Item F201

Van Dell Fabulous antique or vintage Carnelian Shell cameo carved in Italy. The cameo features a gorgeous carved lady encased in a 12kt gold filled frame. The pendant measures 1" in length by 3/4 " and is marked: Van Dell 12K Gold Filled. It is in excellent condition.  This is a smaller cameo. They look great as pendants but this also has a fold down bail and a brooch pin soldered on so it can be worn as a pin too. Estimated to date to circa the 1940s–1950s based on style and hardware. The Van Dell Corporation was founded in in 1938 in Providence Rhode Island, which is still a jewelry hub to this day. The company manufactured well made sterling silver, gold filled and gold plated jewelry rather than more commonly made costume jewelry in base metal.
