These cabochons were made in Germany. No longer produced, They are a decal print on a white glass or porcelain base. Please note the white lines are just reflections from my lights. This is a portrait of Lola Montez from the Gallery of Beauties which is an exquisite collection of 38 portraits showcasing the most esteemed women from Munich’s nobility and bourgeoisie. Commissioned by King Ludwig I of Bavaria, the portraits were primarily painted between 1827 and 1850 by Joseph Karl Stieler, the appointed court painter since 1820. Two additional pieces were created by Friedrich Dürck, one of Stieler’s distinguished pupils. Housed in the south pavilion of Nymphenburg Palace, this collection exemplifies early 19th-century portraiture steeped in historical and cultural significance.
