Closeout - 40x30mm Antique Silver Open Back Cabochon Cameo Setting with ring J227

I am listing these in the closeout section just because I am selling them at a reduced price and while there is nothing technically wrong with them I do have questions about how the piece was originally intended to be used. As you can see this is an open back setting, but unlike most these do not have a rim to set the cameo or stone on all the way around. You can see in the photo it has 4 tabs. When I saw this I began to wonder whether gluing a stone or cameo in at just those 4 points would be enough adhesive to make me feel comfortable. Maybe. I'm not sure. Something like gorilla glue gel might work. So I am not sure what the intent was, the other idea I had was to apply a backing or actually maybe another cameo to the back side. Any type backing you could sandwich a gel glue between the front and back pieces and I doubt they would ever come apart. I don't know.... I think you have to play around with that or try the gorilla glue. This is a cast setting. The finish is silver. Open back design saves on weight. This is a fairly elaborate and chunky design so that helps.
